This original Waffen SS Panzer M43 Officer's wool cap, size 56, is a remarkable piece of WWII memorabilia. It is a standard Waffen SS contract cap made of mid to late war quality black wool, lined with black HBT drillich fabric. The size marking 56 is prominently applied in white. The cap has a single black composite button at the front and has been upgraded for officer use with silver metallic twisted cord piping, hand-applied to the crown and joined at the rear with black thread. The stacked insignia configuration includes a woven SS eagle over a skull, both factory hand-applied with black cotton thread. The cap shows minimal signs of use with only light soiling, and the wool, lining, piping, and insignia are all undamaged. Excess construction threads are still present. Recently acquired from the estate of a Colonel and Company Commander from the 30th Infantry Division in North Carolina, USA, this cap is ultra-desirable and in near mint to excellent condition.
