Original German WWII Merit Cross With Swords First Class Unmarked -
This War Merit Cross with Swords was awarded to military personnel for exceptional meritorious service not necessarily performed in combat. Crafted from die-struck zinc with a silver wash, much of the finish has worn away due to age and use, though the cross remains in very good condition. The front features a mobile swastika at the center, surrounded by an oak leaf wreath tied at both the top and bottom. This motif is set atop a pebbled Maltese-style cross, with broad swords extending from each corner. The reverse includes a soldered flat wire catch, barrel hinge, and flat wire pin. Although unmarked, the piece maintains a strong, authentic presence in very good condition.
