Description

Original Waffen SS M40 Single Decal Helmet Q68- This original Waffen SS M40 Single Decal Helmet, crafted by the renowned Quist manufacturer, boasts a remarkable combination of historical authenticity and character. Retaining approximately 95% of its original factory-applied dark field-gray textured finish, it displays wear consistent with age, including scrapes, scratches, and surface rust, primarily concentrated around the helmet's crown.
The Quist SS decal, while showing signs of wear with chips and scratches, remains approximately 85% intact, preserving the helmet's iconic insignia. Stamped with the batch number T2843, it aligns with Quist’s known production of Waffen SS M40 helmets in size 68, further verifying its historical significance.
The leather liner, a mid to late-war type, is supple and ink-stamped with the year 1943. Though difficult to discern, the liner band also bears a 1943 date. The split pins are untouched and perfectly matched, each stamped with the maker mark "B&C" and dated 1943. The helmet comes complete with its original drawstring and a leather chinstrap, which, although slightly dry, could be conditioned to restore its pliability. The chinstrap is RB-numbered, adding to its authenticity.
It appears the helmet may have been stored upside down, with minor rust forming inside the dome, possibly from accidental exposure to moisture. There are also small traces of white paint, likely from being stored in a garage or basement. Despite these minor imperfections, this Waffen SS helmet remains in excellent condition, making it a standout piece for collectors.
