Original U.S. WWII M1943 Folding Shovel With Second Model Carrier-The folding shovel is also known as a Entrenching Tool (or E-Tool). It is an essential part of a soldier's gear, used both for digging defenses or shelters and, in certain situations (with a sharp blade) used as a weapon.
This authentic Second Model carrier, which was introduced in 1942, is maker marked and dated "AIRTRESS MIDLAND 1944". It shows some stains and discoloration. The belt hook is attached to the reverse side.
The E-tool presented here is marked and dated "U.S. WOOD 1945". It is in solid condition, but does exhibit quite a bit of rust and most of the original paint is missing.
