Description

Original Third Reich Early SA Dagger by Kaufmann & Sohne- This original Third Reich Early SA Dagger, crafted by Kaufmann & Sohne, holds a notable rarity rating of 7 out of 10 on the McSaar scale. The wooden grip presents itself in remarkable condition, boasting rich brown tones that speak to its enduring quality. Adorning the grip is the iconic grip eagle, accompanied by the SA roundel. The eagle has detailed features such as wing feathering, wreath, and swastika still highly discernible. The seamless integration of the grip with the solid nickel crossguards, displaying a gentle patina, further attests to its craftsmanship. Notably, the lower reversed crossguard bears the mark "Wm" indicative of its association with the Westmark Gau District.

Etched with the SA motto "Alles für Deutschland" (All for Germany), the blade retains a significant amount of detailing, with some dark etching still visible. The reverse of the blade proudly bears the maker's mark "Kaufmann & Sohne Solingen," with substantial dark etching still intact.
The blade itself retains a very good amount of cross graining on both sides with minor surface scratches and runner marks. The blade shoulders align flawlessly with the contours of the crossguard, reflecting meticulous craftsmanship.

The scabbard, characterized by its straight form, maintains commendable condition with its brown anodized finish. Remarkably free from dings or dents, the surface does exhibit slight surface rust. The fittings, crafted from solid nickel silver, harmonize seamlessly with the crossguards' patina. Though a minor dent is present at the ball of the lower drag, the original screws securely anchor the mounts, appearing untouched. In sum, this Early SA Dagger embodies historical significance and expert craftsmanship of the Third Reich era.
