Original Third Reich SA Dagger M7/40/38 By Hartkopf & Co- This original Third Reich SA Dagger, crafted by Hartkopf & Co. manufactured in 1938 is a rare and desirable maker. The wooden grip boasting rich brown tones does have some very minor small dings and scratches. Adorning the grip is the iconic grip eagle, accompanied by the SA roundel. The eagles details including the wing feathering, wreath, and swastika, along with the SA roundel remain in excellent condition. Notably, the grip integrates into the crossguards, but with a very small gap on one side of the bottom crossguard. The crossguards displaying a gentle patina are plated type.
Etched with the SA motto "Alles für Deutschland" (All for Germany), the blade retains a significant amount of detailing, with some of the dark etching on the motto. The blade itself retains an excellent amount of cross graining on both sides with minor runner marks. The reverse of the blade proudly bears the RZM maker's mark M7/40/38 for Hartkopf & Co. of Solingen, with some of the dark etching still intact. The blade shoulders align flawlessly with the contours of the crossguard, reflecting meticulous craftsmanship.
The scabbard, characterized by its straight form, maintains commendable condition with its SA brown painted finish. It does have a small dent on the reverse of the scabbard, the surface does exhibit surface scratches and a few small chips in the paint. The fittings on the scabbard are plated fittings, harmonize seamlessly with the crossguards' patina. No dents or dings and the original screws securely anchor the mounts, appearing untouched. In sum, this SA Dagger embodies historical significance and expert craftsmanship of the Third Reich era.
