This is an excellent example of a double decal Luftwaffe M35 helmet featuring the 1st Model Luftwaffe eagle, believed to be the snake leg type decal. The Luftwaffe eagle decal is approximately 65% intact, while the tri-color decal retains about 90% of its original appearance. The helmet’s exterior still boasts around 90% of its original factory-applied Luftwaffe gray/blue paint, with most wear concentrated at the top. Minor surface rust, along with scratches and wear, are visible throughout, consistent with age and use.
The helmet features an aluminum-reinforced liner band dated 1938, sized 56. The leather liner remains supple, complete with its original drawstring. The split pins are matching, appear original to the helmet, and show significant paint wear.
Included is an original wartime replacement chinstrap, which is RB numbered. While it is not the helmet’s factory-issued chinstrap, it is period-correct and original to the helmet. The chinstrap is dry and slightly stiff, showing its age.
Overall, this is a well-preserved, well-used Luftwaffe double decal M35 helmet in very good condition, perfect for collectors seeking authenticity and history.
