Original Italian/German WWII African Campaign Medal (Medaille für den Italiensch-Deutschen Feldzug In Afrika)-
The Italian/German African campaign medal was introduced by the Italian government in the spring of 1942 to commemorate the actions of the DAK (Deutsche Afrika Korps) in Africa. The front of the award depicts a Swastika for Germany and Italian Fascist emblem, flanking an image of the Arco del Felini, which stood in modern Libya. The inscription “Italo-German Campaign in Africa” is rendered in both German and Italian. The reverse of the medal shows two gladiators, representing Germany and Italy, doing battle with a crocodile, symbolizing Great Britain. The medal is an early tomback version and is nicely marked on the back, at the bottom, with the designer "De Marohis" and the medal is also neatly maker-marked with "Lorioli-Milano" on the left side. The medal does not come with a ribbon. In excellent condition.
