Original Imperial German WWI 1914 Iron Cross First Class Medal- Reinstituted on August 5, 1914, by Kaiser Wilhelm II during the period of 1914-1918. This prestigious medal is meticulously crafted from brass and "neusilber", featuring a vaulted Cross Pattée design. The blackened brass core is encased within a neusilber frame, adorned with intricate details. The obverse showcases a central initial "W", symbolizing the Kaiser, while the six o'clock arm bears the re-institution date "1914" and the twelve o'clock arm features a regal crown. On the reverse, a crimped hinge narrow banjo-style pin back meets a round wire catch, with no visible markings. Despite minor loss of finish to the core, this medal remains a scarce and exceptional example, presented in near extremely fine condition.
