Description

Original German WWII Short Model Dress Bayonet Etched Blade By Anton Wingen Jr- Presenting an intriguing piece of wartime history, this Short Model Dress Bayonet bears an etched blade with a fascinating combination—a Klaas etching on an Anton Wingen Jr. blade, which there are etching of various makers on other makers blades. A very common pratice. Notably, it departs from the usual oak leaf motifs flanking the wings, a divergence that collectors encounter when navigating the world of dress bayonets. While such variations can pose a challenge, we've conducted a meticulous examination and find the Klaas etching to be accurate in its depiction, especially when considering the eagle and lettering details.
On the reverse side of the blade, a one-line remembrance of service inscription is proudly presented in raised Gothic letters: "Zur Erinnerung an meine Dienstzeit" (For a reminder of my service time), accompanied by an army eagle adding a touch of historical significance. The blade, measuring 20 cm in length, remains in excellent condition and serves as a testament to the craftsmanship of its time.
Although the distinctive Anton Wingen Jr. knight logo is visible on the blade, it is not etched, a common characteristic for this maker's dress bayonets. Additionally, the bayonet retains its original leather buffer, further enhancing its authenticity and completeness.
The scabbard, painted black, impressively retains approximately 90% of its original factory paint, adding to its overall allure. A minor scrape is noted on the upper section of the scabbard's back, a minor blemish that does not detract significantly from its historical value.
In conclusion, this Anton Wingen Jr. Short Model Dress Bayonet is a captivating artifact from the WWII era, showcasing a unique combination of etching and design elements. It offers collectors and enthusiasts alike a fascinating glimpse into the intricacies of wartime memorabilia.
