This Tornister fur backpack is complete, though it does not include the shoulder straps. It features D-hooks for attachment to the D-rings on Y-straps, making it functional for reenactments or display.
The majority of the fur on the flap is intact. The backpack includes D-rings at the top of the fur flap for securing an A-frame and a leather tab near the bottom of the flap to attach the lower portion of the A-frame.
While the leather trim on the flap shows some minor wear, the leather straps and hardware remain intact. The leather is still pliable, but might benefit from conditioning to preserve its condition or just left alone.
This backpack does not include a mess kit pouch. It is nicely manufacturer-marked and dated "1942" on the back, near the top of the Tornister.
Overall, it is in very good to excellent condition and would make an excellent addition to any WWII German militaria collection.
