Description

Original German WWII Heer M40 Single Decal ET64-

This original ET64 helmet retains approximately 90% of its factory-applied dark field-gray textured finish, with the most notable wear concentrated on the top of the dome. Both the interior and exterior paint exhibit consistent wear patterns, indicative of extensive use.

The Heer national eagle decal is about 90% intact, showing a few scrapes and scratches but remaining well-preserved.

The liner, in a dark brown tone, is complete but shows signs of age and wear, including minor damage. It is fitted with a non-reinforced liner band dated 1937, which is not original to the helmet. It is unclear whether this replacement was made during the war or post-war. Interestingly, the liner band bears traces of camouflage paint. This is the second M40 helmet we’ve encountered with a 1937-dated, non-reinforced liner band. The first was a confirmed wartime replacement, discovered as a "barn find."

The split pins are matching but painted in an apple-green tone, suggesting they may have been reused for the liner replacement. The original drawstring is present, and the chinstrap remains complete, though it shows some dryness and wear consistent with its age and use.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding the liner’s replacement, the helmet is in excellent overall condition and stands as a well-preserved example of a wartime Heer M40 helmet.
