This stunning WWII German Army officer’s dagger, produced by Carl Eickhorn, remains in excellent condition with matching pommel, guard, and ferrule, all crisply detailed and well-preserved.
The grip is a rich orange hue, showing only slight fading on the front. The scabbard, also by Eickhorn, features a fine matching patina, with well-defined pebbling on the panels and sharp detailing on the bands. The thick throat is secured by a center screw on the reverse.
The blade is bright throughout, showcasing crossgrain and a needle-like tip. There is minor graying visible on the reverse near the tip, but overall, the blade remains in excellent to mint condition. The reverse ricasso is deeply etched with the Eickhorn squirrel trademark, used between 1935 and 1941. The original leather blade buffer is still intact.
Accompanying the dagger is an original army hanger with excellent brocade straps that remain stiff, exhibiting some age. The reverse velvet backing is in very good condition. The hardware is finely detailed, featuring oak leaf designs and pebbling with an attractive aged patina. The hanger includes a leather uniform insert hanger catch, which is faintly marker-marked and bears the owner’s name, written in pencil or pen.
