Original German WWII Infantry Assault Badge In Bronze By FLL-
The Infantry Assault Badge was instituted in December 1939. The initial class, Silver, was awarded to foot infantry soldiers who participated in combat and demonstrated a level of experience qualifying them for the badge. In June 1940, a second class, Bronze, was introduced. While the standards for both classes were similar, the distinction lay in the type of troops: the Silver was for foot infantry, while the Bronze was for motorized Panzer troops.
This die-struck bronzed zinc badge retains much of its original bronze finish on both the front and back, complemented by a nice patina showing its age. Considering the age of this badge, the details are still fine and sharp. The reverse side is maker marked "FLL" representing Friedrich Linden, a company based in Ludenscheid, Germany. The vertical steel pinback also retains some of the bronzing. The pin, hinge, and catch are fully functional and remain in excellent condition.
