Description

Original German WWII Luftwaffe 2nd Model Dagger Unmarked With Portepee- Presented here is an original 2nd Model Luftwaffe Dagger from the World War II era, notable for its lack of a maker's mark. This wartime-produced dagger boasts all-aluminum fittings, distinguished by their slightly lighter, appealing tone. The pommel exhibits intricate oak leaf detailing, with a pebbled background, demonstrating a high level of craftsmanship. The two swastikas, situated on either side, are prominently raised, displaying minor signs of wear that attest to its historical use.
The cross guard showcases an eagle with intricate detailing, soaring towards the viewer's left. The feathering, beak, eye, breast feathers, talons, and mobile swastika all exhibit fine craftsmanship. The reverse panel of the cross guard features crisp pebbling, adding to its overall allure.
The dagger is equipped with an orange plastic grip, which, while in good condition, shows some signs of age and has incurred damage concealed by the cross guard handle ring. Over time, the grip has experienced some shrinkage, resulting in a slightly loose fit.
The scabbard features well-defined pebbled panels, while the oak leaves on the carrying bands are finely detailed with pebbled backgrounds. The throat of the scabbard is secured by two screws on both the right and left sides. Some age-related staining is evident on the scabbard, contributing to its authentic patina.
The blade exhibits very fine cross-graining and maintains a sharp tip, although it does display some age-related imperfections in certain areas. Despite these signs, it remains in overall good condition.
Completing this ensemble is a silver dagger portepee, albeit with some damage in one area. In sum, this Luftwaffe Dagger is in good to very good condition, embodying the historical significance of the era and showcasing the craftsmanship of its time.
