Original German WWII 2nd Model Luftwaffe Dagger By Carl Julius Krebs With Hanger- This rare and highly sought-after M1937 2nd Model Luftwaffe dagger was crafted by Carl Julius Krebs, a renowned Solingen manufacturer known for going the extra mile by plating their blades instead of just polishing them. The dagger features a near-perfect tip with a solid fit, and the blade retains a beautiful mirror-like finish. While some small lines can be found along one edge, they do not detract from the blade’s overall very good condition. Faint runner marks are present, and the original brown leather pebbled buffer pad remains intact.
The plated steel scabbard is in excellent condition, showcasing intricate details such as random pebbling, oak leaves, and acorns, all while remaining completely dent-free. Both headless retaining screws are intact, adding to its originality and appeal.
The burnished aluminum, hand-enhanced Luftwaffe eagle cross guard displays outstanding detail, including the eagle’s head, feathers, wings, and top-side oak leaves and acorns. The aluminum pommel is finely hand-enhanced on the sides, though much of its original gold gilded finish has worn off. The orange plastic grip shows signs of aging, with the tightly intact wire wrap still in place. There is a small chip at the front bottom of the grip, but it remains securely fastened and tight.
The dagger comes with its original hanger, which, though complete, shows some damage to the cloth material from improper storage over time. The hardware, however, remains fully intact, and overall, the hanger is in very good condition.
This rare example is in very good to excellent overall condition and would make a great addition to any collection, especially for those starting out with 2nd Model Luftwaffe daggers.
