This is an authentic WWII German Luftwaffe M40 helmet, manufactured by Quist (Q), in size 62. It retains over 90% of its original dark gray-blue factory-applied Luftwaffe textured paint. The exterior shows minor signs of age, including small rust spots, dirt, and dust, which add character to this historical piece. The split pins retain traces of factory-applied paint; however, two of them exhibit minor rust and a significant amount of paint loss.
The 2nd Model Luftwaffe decal is approximately 80% intact, displaying some scratches and chipping but remaining easily recognizable.
Inside, the helmet features its original zinc liner, marked size 55. The leather liner is complete, with no damage—slightly dry but still supple, and could benefit from leather conditioning if desired. It also retains its original drawstring.
The chinstrap shows some wear, with the longer section damaged and partially present on the liner bale. However, the shorter section is intact and securely attached.
Overall, this serviced used Luftwaffe M40 helmet is a remarkable piece in very good condition, offering collectors a well-preserved example of WWII history.
