This authentic German WWII Luftwaffe M40 helmet was manufactured by SE (Sächsische Emaillier- und Stanzwerke A.G., Lauter) in size 64. It retains its original factory-applied dark gray/blue Luftwaffe paint, though the exterior shows significant rust, particularly around the vent holes, likely due to prolonged upside-down storage that allowed water to pool inside.
The helmet features a 2nd Model Luftwaffe decal, approximately 50% intact, adding to its historical value.
The interior retains much of its original factory paint on the inside skirt, though heavy rusting from being left upside down and water pooling inside. The original zinc liner band is intact, but the leather liner is missing. The split pins and washers remain in place, further confirming the helmet's originality.
