Original German WWII Kriegsmarine Dagger With Portepee And Partial Hanger By Carl Eickhorn
This is an authentic 2nd Model Kriegsmarine Officer's Dagger, crafted by the renowned Carl Eickhorn of Solingen. The double-etched blade remains in good to very good condition, showing some graying from age. The blade tip is intact and fits snugly into the scabbard, with the original felt buffer pad still present. The reverse ricasso is faintly stamped with the Eickhorn squirrel trademark, used between 1936 and 1941.
The lightning bolt-style scabbard is brass-based with an aged patina. It has a minor dent on the front but remains structurally sound. Both throat retaining screws are intact and unturned. The functional button mechanism securely attaches the scabbard to the hilt.
The crossguard and pommel, also brass-based, display intricate detailing. The crossguard features the classic fouled anchors, while the pommel showcases the Kriegsmarine eagle perched atop a swastika, a hallmark of these naval daggers.
The grip is solid ivory-colored plastic, tightly wrapped with double-twisted brass wire. Attached to the hilt in its original, textbook tie is an aluminum portepee, which remains in place and does not appear to have been removed. The portepee shows fraying in areas and is in fair condition.
The dagger includes a long Kriegsmarine-style brass naval hanger, which has developed a nice patina. The snaps show minor wear and patina as well. The black moiré fabric is in fine condition but exhibits modest wear on the reverse from age and storage. The short section of the hanger is missing.
Overall, this Kriegsmarine Officer’s Dagger is a well-preserved example of German naval craftsmanship, with an appealing patina and historical character—an excellent addition to any collection.
