This is a genuine Third Reich 2nd Model Kriegsmarine Officer's Dagger, crafted by the renowned maker Carl Eickhorn of Solingen. The double-sided etched blade bears the iconic Eickhorn squirrel maker's mark and is in very good condition, showing only slight graying from age. The blade tip remains intact, fitting snugly into the scabbard; however, the original felt buffer pad is missing.
The lightning bolt-style scabbard is brass-based with a beautiful aged patina. It features a minor dent on the front but remains structurally sound. Both throat retaining screws are intact and unturned. The functional button mechanism securely attaches the scabbard to the hilt.
The crossguard and pommel, also brass-based, display intricate detailing. The crossguard features classic fouled anchors, while the pommel is adorned with the Kriegsmarine eagle perched proudly atop a swastika, a hallmark of these naval daggers.
The handle grip on this dagger is not original to it. The original was wood-based and covered in white celluloid but suffered damage due to poor storage and age. We have replaced it with an excellent, original solid ivory plastic grip, which features a tightly intact brass double-twisted wire wrap. The original handle will be included with the dagger.
