The breadbag is an olive drab color and made of cotton linen with black leather to hold the hardware. The bread bag is roughly, 10 1/2" tall and 12" wide, being wider at the bottom and tapering inward towards the top. The top edge of the bread bag has 2 belt loop straps with leather reinforcement with a button closure to each corner and an additional center strap with a riveted on belt hook. The central belt hook strap is well marked with a manufacturer and could be dated 1939, 1940 or 1941. The breadbag also has two, leather reinforced, steel D- rings positioned near the top edge corners. The front D-Rings are for the canteen and mess kit. The back D-rings are for attaching the breadbag strap. The front of the fold back top flap also has two, small leather loops stitched in place. The interior of the flap has two, stitched on, button holed, leather closure straps with dish buttons to the front center of the breadbag’s body. The breadbag has a single, large compartment interior with an additional leather closure strap with a corresponding dish button. The buttons are 3 hole dish type.
