Original Waffen SS EM/NCO Belt Buckle Marked RODO- This highly sought-after Waffen SS belt buckle, marked "RODO," is known for its distinctive field-gray painted finish, which sets it apart from the more common silver-painted buckles. The exterior of this example retains about 1% of its original field-gray paint, with most of the finish worn off or removed due to use. The buckle features a smooth outer field with a high-relief, embossed central motif of an SS-style national eagle with outstretched wings, clutching a wreath with a static swastika at its center. This motif is enclosed by a circular twisted rope border, with the Gothic script motto, "Meine Ehre heißt Treue!" ("My Honor is Loyalty!"), set against a textured background and further encircled by inner and outer twisted rope borders.
The reverse side is a mirror image of the front, marked with a faintly impressed "RODO" logo, indicating manufacture by Robert C. Dold. Approximately 85% of the original field-gray green paint remains on the reverse, with noticeable wear from the combat belt and some light rust from age. This original Waffen SS belt buckle is in very good condition and remains a highly desirable item among collectors.
