This original Third Reich Reichsbahn Official's Buckle by Assmann, dated 1940, is an exceptional example of a rare and desirable collectible. These buckles were specifically worn by officers of the Reichsbahn, Germany's national railway during the Third Reich era. The buckle's front features the iconic Reichsbahn winged wheel emblem topped with a swastika and surrounded by a wreath of oak leaves, a striking design typical of the period.
In outstanding near-mint condition, the original gilt finish is remarkably well-preserved, maintaining its full luster with only minimal finish loss, likely due to storage rather than active wear. The reverse of the buckle is pristine, marked with F.W. Assmann & Söhne’s stylized "A" logo and the “D.R.G.M.” designation, a trademark indicating a patented design, as well as the dated “40”.
