Original Luftwaffe M35 Reissued Single Decal Helmet Q66- This original Luftwaffe M35 reissued single decal helmet, produced by Quist and sized 66, offers a fascinating glimpse into its wartime history. Initially a double decal helmet, it underwent factory reissuing, receiving a new dark flat gray/blue textured paint, indicative of Luftwaffe specifications.
Notably, the original 2nd model Luftwaffe decal and tri-color shield were painted over, leaving discernible outlines and chips in the paint as poignant reminders of its previous iteration. A new 2nd model Luftwaffe decal was reapplied but positioned at a slight slant.
Internally, the helmet was also sprayed with the new dark flat gray/blue textured paint. It comes complete with a factory-installed aluminum-reinforced liner, dated 1939 and sized 58. The soft and complete leather liner, including the original drawstring, further enhances its historical integrity. Unfortunately, the leather chinstrap is missing. A period Third Reich newspaper was hand-sewn on the inside of the liner, likely by the soldier to adjust the fit because the helmet was too big for him when issued.
Overall, this Luftwaffe reissued M35 helmet is in very good to excellent condition, presenting a compelling piece of wartime memorabilia.
