Original German WWII Luftwaffe Steel Belt Buckle By Schmöle & Comp. 1940-
This 2nd-Model Luftwaffe aluminum belt buckle was manufactured by Schmöle & Comp. of Menden in 1940. Unlike other makers, this buckle is distinguished by its less sharply defined eagle and wreath details on the reverse—an identifying characteristic that makes it highly desirable among collectors. A small amount of original paint remains around the edge of the wreath and eagle.
The front of the buckle features excellent detailing with a beautiful, natural patina. Despite its wartime use, the overall condition is very good to excellent. The reverse side retains traces of its original Luftwaffe Blue paint, and the manufacturer's logo—an arrow with "S" and "C" on either side—along with the 1940 date, remains clearly visible.
A well-preserved and collectible example of an original WWII Luftwaffe belt buckle.
