This original Iron Cross First Class is an unmarked example produced by Steinhauer & Lück of Lüdenscheid. It features a non-magnetic center with a silver-coated border, characteristic of early-war manufacture. The pin-back design includes a well-crafted hinge and a secure catch, all in excellent working condition.
The accompanying case is constructed from sturdy card stock, finished with a faux black leather exterior. The top of the lid bears a silver image of the Iron Cross . Inside, the case features a white satin-like lid liner and a beige felt medal bed with a slotted design. The spring catch and exterior stud release are intact and functional.
The set remains in excellent condition, showing only minor signs of age. This piece was brought back as a war souvenir by a member of the US 101st Airborne Division. A highly collectible and historically significant set for any WWII enthusiast.
