Rare! Original German WWII Kriegsmarine-Issued Gasmask Canister Set- This set includes an M38 gasmask canister painted "battleship gray" on both the exterior and the inside of the lid, with the lid dated "42" and containing spare gasmask lenses in the lens compartment. The canister retains approximately 80% of the original "battleship gray" paint, with some dark field gray showing through, and displays some rust spots throughout. The soldier's number "363" is painted on the outside, and the inside lid features the name "Uffz Kronenberg Einheit" along with Feldpost number "21738C," corresponding to either the 5th Company or the 4th Company of Marine-Flak-Abteilung 229.
The gasmask itself is the canvas type, with all straps intact. The number "363" is also painted on the snorkel. The filter is a rare FE42 model, dated 1943, and retains about 95% of its original Feldgrau paint. The set includes a lens cleaning cloth and a retaining spring at the bottom of the canister. Both straps are present; however, the shoulder strap shows significant fraying in one area, and both straps have rubberized ends marked "ebd 43." The short strap is missing its stud but is securely sewn with period cotton thread. Overall, the set shows some wear and patina but remains in very good condition.
