Description

Original German WWII Tropical Orange Butterdose (Butter dish) With Salzstreuer (Salt-Dispenser)- In very good, used condition.
  • The salt shaker cover has a chip, but is still in good working order. There's no issues opening and closing the salt shaker.
  • There are maker markings on the salt shaker cover, underside of the butter dish lid, and on the bottom of the dish.
  • The butter dish lid opens smoothly, no issues. Dated 1942 on the underside of the lid.
Aside from the chip on the shaker lid, this is still in very good to excellent condition.

It is assumed that these were issued in tropical climates where excessive sweating caused a significant fluid and salt loss. The underside of the lid has protruding, sharp edges to break up salt pieces. The smaller lid can then be opened and salt can be distributed through the small holes.
