The helmet is complete with its original liner, featuring a reinforced aluminum liner band, dated 1940 and size-marked 66/58. The leather liner is supple, a bit dry but intact and can either be conditioned or left as is for preservation. The original drawstring is still present and original to the helmet. The chinstrap is also original, marked and dated 1940, and, like the liner, is slightly dry and could benefit from conditioning. The split pins are matching, marked, and dated 1940, though none retain their factory paint.
The inside back skirt bears the Kriegsmarine soldier’s last name, and the batch number is 4940. The helmet shell is size 66 and maker-marked SE. Kriegsmarine helmets are highly sought after due to their rarity, and this untouched, complete example is in very good to excellent condition.
